Treatment of polluted water - Vietnam

In order to limit negative effects of polluted water on the health of poor people in Vietnam , ICEAL has developed projects of polluted water treatment by using a process called Biofixation.

Rivers, ponds, watercourses, canals in Vietnam are suffering of consequences of a too fast industrial growth since these last years. The pollution is particularly present and is harmful to the poorest Vietnamese who have to use this water every day for toilette and domestic use. ICEAL is working in a partnership with a company specialized in water treatment by bacterial process. The NGO will have to determine the areas to treat and then to get the local populations’ involvement to carry out the project effectively.

Logic framework of treatment Project

Targets : cleaning up the environment of people living in proximity of polluted water points.
Special Targets :  reducing the pollution of water in rivers, canals and ponds, limiting the inconveniences caused by polluted water (bad smells, illness,), restoring the ecosystem

Quantitatively, the targets are considered as reached when the pollution has decreased by 50% after six months of treatment and the specific illness reduced by 10% in the 3 years. Qualitatively, the targets are reached when the inconveniences caused by polluted water vanish in the six months. Then, the satisfaction of the population will be evaluate with the aid of a questionnaire . When at least 70% of population are satisfied, we can say our target is reached.
